Couch?
It's an acronym, Cluster Of Unreliable Commodity Hardware. This is a statement of Couch's long term goals of massively scalablility and reliability on fault-prone hardware. The distributed nature and flat address space of the database will enable node partitioning for storage scalabilty ( with a map/reduce style query facility) and clustering for reliability and fault tolerance.
What language is CouchDb written in?
Erlang, a concurrent, functional programming language with an emphasis on fault tolerance.
Early work on CouchDb was started in C++ but was replaced by Erlang OTP platform. Erlang has so far proven an excellent match for this project.
The [Fabric]] formula compiler/runtime is written in C++. The compiler also uses the [Antlr parser generator.
What hardware/software is required to run CouchDb?
Windows or Linux. Development work is being done on Windows, with a Linux port planned soon after.
Where do I download CouchDB?
It's not available to the public. Yet.
How much stuff can I store in CouchDb?
With node partitioning, virtually unlimited. For a single database node, the practical scaling limits aren't yet known.

Right now, I would most like help running this wiki and organizing/contributing to the documentation contained herein.

What about the frontend? Will it be an Eclipse plugin?
Initially I plan a simplified web based IDE that's a form designer and view builder. I'm targeting proficient Office users, end users who can make custom spreadsheets and things like that. Partially I am targeting this level of end user/developer as a mental exercise to keep the metaphors and APIs as simple as possible. Even I don't achieve this level of simplicity, it's useful to strive for it.
However there has been lot of interest expressed in an Eclipse plugin, so I'm definitely thinking about how to make that happen. No solid plans yet. -Damien
